Christmas Scenes in Movies I've Already Talked About.

"Gone With The Wind"

Ashley Wilkes gets to come home for Christmas.  He is ready to leave for the station and Scarlett waits for him.  He has left the delicate Melanie in the bedroom where she is overcome with emotion and  can't get out of bed.  Either that or, well little Beau Wilkes was born nine months later.

Scarlett gives Ashley a sash to wear with his new coat and promises to wait for him.  This is one of the moments in this movie where Ashley could tell Scarlett he doesn't love her and she needs to move on, but he doesn't.  I hate Ashley Wilkes.

"Trading Places"

Dan Aykroyd is a really bad Santa.  He is dirty and desperate.  While the movie culminates on New Year's Day, it has a strong Christmas presence.  And it has Dan Aykroyd eating a ham on a bus.

"Yours, Mine and Ours"

I searched forever trying to find the great scene of all the North-Beardsley's standing around the Christmas tree and couldn't find one.  It is a great moment when Helen has decided to let Frank run off on a Naval adventure.  Then a few minutes later the doctor calls to tell her she's pregnant with what will be her 19th child.

"Catch Me If You Can"

Every year Leo's character calls Tom's character on Christmas Eve.  They talk to each other.  They connect in their loneliness.  It is sweet.

"Steel Magnolias"

The Christmas scenes kick off at the festival and culminate with the announcement of Shelby's pregnancy.  Everyone is thrilled but M'Lynn who knows that it is a threat to her life.

More tomorrow.  It is getting late.
